My Friday kindergarten classes recently finished a two-part painting assignment. One aspect of the assignment was exploring the mixing of colors. Students used watercolor paints to explore mixing of secondary colors, intermediate colors, and shades.
We read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds together as a class. Students then took their dots to a new level by adding features, designs, backgrounds, and other fun finishing details. Simple black felt tip pens were used to create these details.
