The 1st and 2nd graders have been busy this week working on mandala designs. Students learned about the meaning of concentric circles (circles inside of circles), patterns, and geometric shapes. Examples of mandalas from all around the world were shown to students. Then, each student practiced drawing a mandala in his or her sketchbook. The focus was on concentric circles, shapes, and things that interested each student.
Each student drew his or her design on black paper, and then outlined in glue. Once these glue designs dry we will be using chalk pastel to finish them. Check back next week for the amazing results!
